Laura + Mark | A Doctor’s House Wedding, Kleinburg ON

L+M_2When we met with Laura and Mark in our initial consultation, we left the meeting thinking that they were about the sweetest, most down-to-earth couple we had ever met; and now, having worked with them on their wedding day, we know our initial impression was exactly right.  When we arrived to begin photographing the day, Laura was relaxing on the balcony of her home in the sunshine with her family – just soaking in the beauty of her day, totally calm.  In this time of consumerism and fast fixes, Laura and Mark are an anomaly.  For example, who, in this day and age, takes the time to make and can their own spaghetti sauce?  Laura and Mark do! (Their kitchen was stocked with jars and jars of it, as Laura’s father proudly pointed out).  Their apartment is decorated quaintly with vintage items, and is also home to a fluffy lop-eared bunny named Gillian, (who quickly worked her way into our hearts).  They are considerate and loving towards each other, and it is obvious that they treat everybody around them the same way they treat each other – with kindness and attention.  Their penchant for home-made goods carried over to their wedding day, which was no surprise.  All of the details, from the the jars of pesto, to the cake, to the patchwork place mats, and unique seating chart were all lovingly created by hand with help from their friends and family.  Oh, and if you need any other reason to believe us when we say this girl is too sweet for words, Laura purchased her dress at the Bride’s Project, which accepts wedding dress donations, and then resells the dresses and donates all of the profit to the fight against cancer.  It was the first we heard of this amazing organization, and we will be doing our utmost to convince all of our future brides to hand over their dresses to the cause!  Laura and Mark got married on one of the most beautiful fall days this year at the quaint Doctor’s House chapel in Kleinburg, and the rest of the home-spun festivities followed there as well.  It was a beautiful day in every respect, and we were grateful to be a part of it.

Raegan + Justin | A London Hunt and Country Club Wedding, ON

R&J_582

You can’t get much better then a beautiful outdoor wedding, fall colours and a relaxed, easygoing couple! After having photographed Raegan and Justin for their engagement session last fall, we were really looking forward to this day knowing their wedding would be a reflection of their personalities. Once Raegan was dressed and ready to go, we all headed to the London Hunt and Country Club where the rest of the day’s events took place. We were able to wander the grounds to capture the seasonal colours and stumbled across a river at the edge of the property; a spectacular setting once we were able to climb down the bank to get there!   The ceremony followed on a picturesque vista overlooking the property, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect afternoon. Following the ceremony, we were able to sneak away with the newlyweds for a few more photos in the golden afternoon light before heading back for the rest of the festivities. Once the dance floor opened the party was on!  Who knew Raegan and Justin would be such dancing machines!  The entire day was a great celebration and we really enjoyed our stay in London.  Congrats again to Raegan and Justin, it was a pleasure to document your day.

Michelle + Sandro | A Liberty Grand Wedding, Toronto

01

We first got to know Michelle and Sandro during our island engagement shoot earlier in the season.  They are such a fun couple to be around, quirky, charismatic and genuine.  We laughed a lot during the shoot so we knew their wedding day would be no different.

All of the day’s festivities took place in the Artifact’s Room at The Liberty Grand.   The décor was stunning.   Shades of pink and purple accented by black and white added a true sense of glam;  a perfect setting for Michelle and Sandro.  Despite a little rain during our photos, cool temperatures, and darkening sky, it was all smiles and laughs as predicted.  We wanted to thank Michelle and Sandro for making us feel like part of the wedding, always checking in with us to make sure we were okay!  Yes, we ate plenty, I received my veggie meal, and no worries…family photos are generally that chaotic!  Thank goodness for cocktails!

Congrats you two. We loved being part of your day.

Patricia + Anthony | Engagement Photography in the Distillery District, Toronto

P&A_145

We are so excited to photograph Patricia and Anthony’s wedding next summer.  It is always nice to do an engagement shoot before the wedding, because we get a sense of the personalities of the couple we are working with, and get to know their style, how they fit together, and what they are up for in terms of photographs.  Patricia and Anthony kept us laughing the entire time, and really were up for anything we threw at them, even if they weren’t entirely sure where it was leading… which at one point, was questionable!  It was so nice to know that Patricia and Anthony fully trust us and our creative ideas, and it makes us look forward to photographing their wedding even more!  It also helps that they have great fashion sense (you rocked the scarf, Anthony), and are a fun, warm and beautiful couple.  Looking forward to July 2011!

Lauren + Mike | One King West Wedding, Toronto

post7

We knew that Lauren and Mike’s wedding was going to be beautiful to photograph when we met the couple in their initial consultation.  Lauren was really excited about the little details, which always gets us excited because we are all about the details.  She even had a photo of her dress on hand, which was a stunning Melissa Sweet creation.  Lauren is crafty – not like sneaky-crafty, but uber-talented, Martha-Stewart-type crafty.  She sews, she cooks, she bakes and she basically created all of the elements of their wedding day herself.  Everything turned out so gorgeously (including her bridesmaid’s hair, which she whipped up in no time flat.)  Seriously, this girl should have her own television show!  Lauren and Mike celebrated their wedding in beautiful and elegant 1 King West.  Both their ceremony and reception were held there, and in between, we did photos at Osgoode Hall.  The couple had great energy, and as you can see in the photos, I don’t think Mike stopped smiling at Lauren the entire time.  It was an amazing day, and a beautiful wedding.  We were grateful to be a part of it.
