Virginia + Sonny | Trash the Dress Session, Tulum Mexico

18

The day after Virginia and Sonny’s wedding, we all decided to forgo relaxing on the beach in favour of an artistic photo shoot in some authentic Mexican locations.  We started the session on the beach, and then ventured into the town of Tulum, a market area, and ended with our favourite, a breathtaking turquoise blue cenote.  We got an amazing variety of photographs, and Virginia and Sonny rocked the shoot, despite the +40 temperature while wearing full wedding attire.  Ending the shoot in the cool cenote was definitely the smart choice – although the dress was heavier than expected in the water, and all we can say is thank goodness for inner tubes and fast swimming locals.  We had an absolutely phenomenal day and can’t wait to do it again.  Any takers?

Thanks for my Camera Cake!

The other day Rowena  (Rowena + Tak |  Tulum, Mexico) surprised me with a thank you gift for shooting her wedding.  Her sister Julie had made me a beautiful cake which is an exact replica of my camera and favorite lens! I am in awe of her talent.  Thanks Julie, Rowena and Tak.  It looks too good to eat, but I will make do!

Alison + Matt | Evergreen Brickworks Wedding Photography

A&M_1789_2

I knew going into Alison and Matt’s wedding it was going to be a good day.  They are such an easygoing couple and they put their trust in us to do what we do best.  Alison surprised me with how emotional she was.  She cried all the way down the aisle, which definitely pulled at everyone’s heartstrings including mine!  “M” and “A” shaped cookies and lemonade was served outside of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, which was a cute and personal touch to their day. During our creative shoot at the Evergreen Brickworks Matt entertained us with interesting stories and I believe a random quote on love he had googled??!! That made for some great candid moments and lots of laughs by all.  Alison’s one request was to have photos in a forest. We found her a forest and she even climbed a hill in heels to get there!  Congratulations Alison & Matt.  We can’t wait to share the rest of our photos with you.

Priscilla + Hart – Waterloo Wedding Photography

I so enjoyed being a part of Priscilla and Hart’s day.  When I met Priscilla for the first time, she teared up while telling me about their wedding, so I knew that it was going to be an emotion-filled event.   I was right.  Priscilla and Hart experienced a year of ups and downs, punctuated with family illness, which changed the course of the plans for their wedding.  Despite the challenges they encountered this year, the celebration of their marriage was what they hoped for – all of their family in attendance, surrounding them with love and prayers.  It was a beautiful, emotional day, and on more than one occasion I found myself grateful I had my camera to hide behind to conceal my own tears.  I will remember this wedding for a long time to come.

Virginia + Sonny | Destination Wedding Photography | Tulum, Mexico

21

What an amazing start to Verve’s wedding season!  After shooting in the Riviera Maya and Dominican Republic just weeks prior, we both headed back to Mexico for Virginia & Sonny’s wedding at the Dreams Resort in Tulum, Mexico.

With the sun shining and the heat and humidity enveloping us all, Virginia (accompanied by her mother) walked down the aisle lined of starfish towards an anxious Sonny.   Their vows were cute, humorous and personalized to one another adding a special touch to the ceremony. Cocktails followed their service on a terrace overlooking the resort as we took the newlyweds and wedding party for some fun photos around the oceanfront property.  Who knew the reception would be such a riot!  With synchronized dance moves by the wedding party and some crazy masks and balloons,  the festivities had everyone on their feet making for some hilarious party shots.  Congratulations to Virginia and Sonny! We had an amazing time with you, your family and your friends.  Keep watching our blog for Virginia and Sonny’s unique “Trash the Dress” photo session shot in some interesting locations…
